South West Coast Path - Salcombe Regis to Lyme Regis

This was the second stage of 10 days walk along the Jurassic Coast section of the South West Coast Footpath between Exmouth and Poole. Using a basecamp at Salcombe Regis we aimed to walk through to Abbotsbury before moving onto Langton Herring. Each days walk would use the Jurassic CoastHopper bus service to get us to/from our start and end point.

Path taken: Followed the South West Coasstal Footpath.

Pubs:

• The Anchor Inn, Beer. (http://www.anchorinn-beer.co.uk/) pleasant beer garden across the road from the pub.No complaints about the ale;
• The Hook and Parrot, Seaton A bit of a chavvy seafront bar but they still serve decent ale! 
• The Cobb Arms, The Cobb Lyme Regis (http://www.lymeregis.com/cobbarms/index.htm) a wide range of Palmers beers and extensive menu - very nice indeed!
• The Rockpoint Inn, Lyme Regis (http://www.rockpointinn.com/) 3 ales including Palmers and Sharps Doombar which is well recommended.

Notes:  The first stage of the days walk through to seaton was very strenuous with multiple climbs and descents over the hills. Most of these do have steps but they are usually uneven they are never an easy climb. The second stage to Lyme Regis is a stage of no return - it is a 4 hour hike and there is no way out other than returning the way you came. Signs point this out. The going has no significant climbs but it is through a lot of dense jungle with the path weaving between the trees. The path can be slippy at times, even after several days of warm weather! The days walk was exhausting but well worth it. The views on the first stage were unbeatable and after negotiating the underhills through to Lyme Regis, the town was a perfect reward - a very charming place. We spent a couple of hours here until the last bus back to Salcombe.

The path descneds down to the beach then climbs back up to the top of the 500ft cliffs
