South West Coast Path - Langton Matravers to Swanage
This was the eigth stage of 10 days walk along the Jurassic Coast section of the South West Coast Footpath between Exmouth and Poole. We moved base camp down to Langton Matravers to do the final stages of the walk. By now we had come to the unfortunate conclusion that the section through the military range was not going to be feasable due to the constraints of public transport. Therefore it was decided to continue from as near as we could get to the military range from basecamp. Then on the final day we could drive into the military range to see what we had missed.

- The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers (http://squareandcompasspub.co.uk/) A fantastic little pub with a variety of cask ale all served straight from the barrel.
- The kings Arms, Langton Matravers Friendly local with good food and three cask ales.

| 218 steps to St Adhelms Head |
Notes:It was a big disappointment missing out on the hills through the military range but there was some fantastic views from the Purbeck coast. Throughout the weeks walking we had become accustommed to the amount of steps en route that we had to climb up and down the hills. But nothing compared to the 218 steps up to St Adhelms Head. As we rounded the coast towards Swanage we caught sight of The Isle of Wight for the first time. Fantastic!
Equipment: 40L rucksack as a daypack - Panasonic camera
Accommodation: Toms Field, Langton Matravers (http://www.tomsfieldcamping.co.uk/) - a superb little camp site (no caravans allowed). It is run on a first come first served basis so get there early. We arrived at 10:00 Friday morning and by lunchtime most the pitches were taken. Well recommended if you can get on!

I did this as well as a teenager. Did you walk past the nudies? I did and it was coild and peeing with rain as well.
yes and I passed a nude angler - many jokes about the anglers tackle went through my head but i kept my mouth firly shut and the thoughts to myself. I have passed the nudies up in Holkham in Norfolk - they hide in the dunes and pop up like meercats - a very unusual sight I have to admit
